Good Friday is the Friday when Jesus Christ was crucified (attached to a cross). Jesus was ridiculed and beaten because he said that he was God’s son.
He was made to wear a crown made from thorns. He had to carry the heavy cross on which he would be crucified, to a hilltop. This is the saddest day for Christians in the year.
Jesus rose a few days later, on Easter Sunday and went to Heaven. Easter Friday is the Friday after Easter.
“On this Good Friday may we never forget the true meaning of Easter – ‘For when He was on the cross, I was on His mind.’”

“The cross was two pieces of dead wood; and a helpless, unresisting Man was nailed to it; yet it was mightier than the world, and triumphed, and will ever triumph over it.”
Augustus William Hare
“Good Friday marks the slaying of our Jesus. The unblemished lamb, the perfect sacrifice. He took our guilt and blame upon Himself so we could be with Him in paradise.”

National Science Day is celebrated on 28 February each year to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect by Sr. CV Raman. He was given the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930 for his research on The Raman Effect. This day highlights the importance of science and its significance in our day-to-day life. The National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) popularises science in India. And so, in 1928, it was the NCSTC who proposed the idea of rewarding 28 February as the National Science Day Celebration.
Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman was born an extraordinarily intelligent child. He matured at an unusually early age. He completed his bachelor’s degree with honors in physics just at the age of 16. February 28 is celebrated as National Science Day in India to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by Indian physicist Sir C.V. Raman on this day in 1928.
National Science Day was declared by the Government of India upon request from the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) in 1986.
The first National Science Day was celebrated on February 28, 1987.
February 28 was declared National Science Day to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect by Sir C.V. Raman, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930.
The main objective of National Science Day is to spread the message of the importance of science and its application among the people, to encourage scientific mindedness, and to foster a scientific temperament in society.
"The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi today addressed the 647th Birth Anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidas in Varanasi. At the Sant Guru Ravidas Janmasthali temple at Seer Govardhanpur near BHU, the Prime Minister inaugurated the newly installed statue of Sant Ravidas in adjoining Ravidas Park."
